Several weeks ago two Year 10 girls were referred to ThisLife Collective as, although they had previously been friends, they’d had a huge falling out and were constantly fighting in school.
They turned out to be desperate to make up and put this behind them and embarked on a project to explain to their teachers how schools could better support the mental wellbeing of their students.
These 2 remarkable girls presented their project, speaking confidently in front of the schools’ leadership team and then Heads of Year. They worked incredibly hard, researching and creating a resource they hope to use in staff teacher training days and even to use their knowledge to support Year 6 students’ transition to their secondary school next September.
Their presentation was really moving and drew on their own experiences in a way that was universally understandable and relatable.
They are firm friends again and a huge credit to themselves. They are determined to use their experiences to help others, they surprised themselves and their teachers.
